The Asian Paralympic Committee (APC) announced on Friday that the fifth Asian Youth Para Games will be held in Dubai, UAE, from December 7 to 14, 2025. Dubai will be hosting this important event after the original host city, Tashkent, had to pull out a few months ago.
This will be the second time Dubai is hosting the Asian Youth Para Games. The city first hosted the event in 2017.
The announcement came just four months after the APC revealed that Tashkent could not hold the games as planned, which were originally set for October.

The Asian Youth Para Games are a very important event for young athletes with disabilities. These games give them a chance to get their international classification and compete in a prestigious multi-sport event. Majid Rashed, the President of the APC, shared his excitement about the games. He said, “The Asian Youth Para Games are vital for developing the Paralympic Movement in Asia. They allow young athletes with disabilities to test their skills and compete at an international level. With Dubai’s past experience of hosting the event in 2017 and its proven ability to organize para-sports events, we are confident the games will be a big success.”
The Local Organizing Committee has set four main goals for the event:
To promote inclusivity and create a platform for young athletes with disabilities.
To inspire young people with disabilities to participate in sports.
To strengthen the ties between Asian countries.
To showcase Dubai’s world-class infrastructure and commitment to inclusivity.
The APC has said that around 30 to 40 countries are expected to send approximately 1,350 athletes to Dubai. This will make the Asian Youth Para Games the largest in terms of the number of athletes and participating countries.
The event will feature 10 sports: Para Athletics, Para Swimming, Para Powerlifting, Para Taekwondo, Para Archery, Para Table Tennis, Para Badminton, Wheelchair Basketball, Boccia, and Goalball.
Six of these sports will be held at the Dubai Club for People of Determination. Dubai is known as a popular location for para-sports events. The city has already hosted the FAZZA International Para-Athletics Championships and the FAZZA Para-Archery Championships, among others.
With its great track record and facilities, Dubai is ready to welcome athletes from all over Asia to this exciting and inclusive event in 2025.
