Dubai is quickly becoming a global center for artificial intelligence (AI), and a big part of that success is because of the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ). DIEZ recently announced that more than 700 AI companies are now working in its three major economic zones: Dubai Airport Freezone, Dubai Silicon Oasis, and Dubai CommerCity.

These companies are using AI in many different ways—from creating new tools to solving real-life problems with smart technology. They range in size from small startups to big international companies. This shows that DIEZ’s plan to support AI is working well and helping move Dubai closer to becoming a leading hub for AI.

What Is Dubai AI Week?

This big news was shared during Dubai AI Week, a special event held from April 21 to 25, 2025. The event took place at two famous locations: the Museum of the Future and Area 2071 in Emirates Towers. It was supported by His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Crown Prince of Dubai.

Dubai AI Week was organized by the Dubai Center for Artificial Intelligence and brought together experts, businesses, and leaders to talk about how AI can shape the future.

A Plan That Works

Dr. Mohammed Al Zarooni, the Executive Chairman of DIEZ, said that the AI strategy they are following is part of the bigger vision of His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, who wants the UAE to be one of the top countries in the world for using and creating AI.

He said that the growth of these 700+ AI companies proves that their plan is working. According to him, artificial intelligence is not just a trend—it’s a key part of Dubai’s economic future, helping the city grow and stay strong for years to come.

What Is DIEZ’s AI Strategy?

DIEZ’s plan for using AI is based on three main ideas:

  1. People – Helping workers improve their skills using AI tools so they can work smarter and faster.

  2. Customers – Making things better for customers by using data and smart technology.

  3. Technology Management – Building strong digital systems that work well, follow rules, and use AI in smart and safe ways.

12 Smart Projects

As part of its AI plan, DIEZ has started 12 big projects to improve the way it works and make life easier for businesses and people in its zones.

Some of these projects include:

  • A tool that uses AI to check and organize business documents.

  • A special cybersecurity system to stop online threats and hacking.

  • Platforms that help manage customer questions, complaints, and service requests.

  • Tools for finding the right people for jobs and for training workers.

  • Systems to help spot and stop fraud.

  • Big data tools to support better and faster decision-making.

These projects aim to make DIEZ’s services faster, smarter, and more reliable. They also support Dubai’s bigger goal of becoming a technology-driven and knowledge-based economy.
