Dubai Municipality has announced that its parks and recreational facilities welcomed more than 31 million visitors in 2024. This marks a 7% increase compared to 2023. The rise in visitors reflects the Municipality’s efforts to improve public parks and recreational areas, making them top destinations for both residents and tourists looking for fun and relaxation.
According to Dubai Municipality, more than 20.8 million people visited public parks in the emirate. Five of Dubai’s most popular parks—Zabeel Park, Mushrif Park, Al Mamzar Beach Park, Dubai Creek Park, and Safa Park—together recorded 6.69 million visitors. The Quranic Park saw 1.8 million visitors, while the famous Dubai Frame welcomed 1.59 million guests. Children’s City had over 112,000 visitors, while around 1.49 million people used cycling, mountain biking, and pedestrian tracks across various parks. Additionally, 180,000 visitors enjoyed the playgrounds.
Bader Anwahi, CEO of the Public Facilities Agency at Dubai Municipality, expressed pride in the growing popularity of Dubai’s parks and recreational spaces. He emphasized that these parks are designed with the highest global standards, ensuring comfort, entertainment, and well-being for all visitors.
“The high number of visitors in 2024 shows how attractive Dubai’s parks and recreational facilities have become. Our parks are more than just green spaces; they are lively destinations for leisure and tourism, built with sustainability and inclusivity in mind. We want to improve the quality of life for residents and offer exciting experiences for tourists,” Anwahi said.
He further explained the Municipality’s long-term vision for parks and public spaces in Dubai. “We have a solid plan to keep improving Dubai’s parks. Our goal is to create multi-purpose spaces where people can enjoy a mix of recreational, cultural, and sports activities. We also want to attract more investments to these parks, so they continue to grow along with Dubai’s rapid development.”
Dubai’s efforts align with major city plans, such as the Dubai Urban Plan 2040, the Dubai Quality of Life Strategy 2033, and the Dubai Walk Masterplan, which aims to make Dubai a pedestrian-friendly city with beautiful green spaces and eco-friendly recreational areas.
Currently, Dubai Municipality manages over 220 public parks and recreational facilities. In 2024, these spaces hosted 1,283 events covering cultural, sports, and community activities. Some of the key events included the Farmers Souq, Souq Al Freej, Future Trader, Unique Weekend, Welcome New Year, Dubai Fitness Challenge, and the Grand Picnic, among others.
In addition to enhancing visitor experiences, Dubai Municipality has significantly improved the operational efficiency of its parks. Through careful planning and infrastructure upgrades, the Municipality achieved a 98% efficiency rate in preventive maintenance. This means that parks and facilities are well-maintained, providing safe and enjoyable spaces for everyone.
Dubai’s parks remain some of the most accessible and well-equipped recreational spots in the region. Whether it’s families looking for a weekend outing, fitness enthusiasts using the walking and cycling tracks, or tourists exploring famous attractions, Dubai Municipality continues to make the city’s parks more attractive, sustainable, and enjoyable for all.
