Dubai recently hosted the "World Bank Group Cloud Computing Workshop," a key event leading up to the Global Government Cloud Forum. The workshop was organized by the Dubai Electronic Security Center (DESC) in collaboration with the World Bank Group. This was the first event of its kind to be held worldwide.
The event, called the “Global Government Cloud Forum Design Thinking Workshop,” brought together experts from the World Bank Cloud Computing Group, including digital government representatives, cloud service providers, nations involved, and experts from both the public and private sectors. The workshop focused on four main topics: Green Cloud, Artificial Intelligence, Quantum Computing, and Data Protection.
Under the leadership of H.H. Sheikh Ahmed bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, the Second Deputy Ruler of Dubai, the Global Government Cloud Forum is set to begin tomorrow. The theme of the forum is "Driving Government Innovation and Advancing Cloud Solutions Together." The forum will feature global experts in cloud computing, more than 500 industry professionals, over 200 government officials, 50 international speakers, and 30 heads of government cloud initiatives.

Speaking about the significance of hosting the event in Dubai, H.E. Yousuf Al Shaibani, Chief Executive of DESC, stated, “Hosting this event in Dubai shows our dedication to innovation and creating the infrastructure needed to help Dubai grow as a city of the future. It also reflects our commitment to aligning with the vision of our wise leadership. We believe this workshop and forum will help Dubai become a leading global center for digital innovation."
The goal of the workshop was to develop a global strategy for cloud computing over the next five years. It provided an opportunity for experts to share ideas and work together to find solutions. The discussions focused on ways to encourage more people to use cloud technology and to speed up innovation.
The workshop used design thinking, a creative approach to solving problems, to help identify challenges and find new ways to tackle them. Attendees worked on creating ideas and solutions that could be put into action. At the end of the workshop, they shared their ideas and got feedback to improve them.
After the workshop, the attendees visited the "Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum Solar Park," the world’s largest solar park. This visit gave them a chance to learn about sustainable technologies that support Dubai’s green cloud computing. Dubai’s government is taking steps to promote sustainable practices, and the solar park is a perfect example of how these technologies can help create a greener future. The event helped build stronger partnerships and encouraged more collaboration on future technological advances and sustainable cloud solutions.
The whole event marked an important step forward for Dubai, strengthening its role as a leader in innovation and cloud computing.
