Dubai Honours Donors Driving Hamdan Cancer Hospital Build

Dubai took a momentous step in healthcare philanthropy as His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum honoured the generous donors fueling the construction of the Hamdan Bin Rashid Cancer Hospital. The ceremony, organised by Al Jalila Foundation, was held at the hospital’s site in Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2, highlighting the emirate’s commitment to world-class cancer care.

Fifty-five individuals, charitable organisations, and corporate entities were recognised for their contributions, which are crucial in realising Dubai’s first fully integrated cancer facility. The hospital, spanning 59,000 square metres, will include 53 clinics, 21 clinical research areas, 60 infusion rooms, 10 urgent care rooms, 5 radiotherapy rooms, and 116 inpatient beds. It will also feature 19 serene gardens, combining medical excellence with patient well-being.

His Highness Sheikh Ahmed bin Saeed Al Maktoum reflected on the UAE’s philanthropic heritage, emphasizing that giving continues to be a driving force behind societal growth and development. He praised the donors for their role in supporting a facility that embodies social responsibility and strengthens community healthcare partnerships.

The hospital honours the late Sheikh Hamdan bin Rashid Al Maktoum, whose lifelong dedication to humanitarian work inspired its establishment. Beyond treatment, the centre will act as a hub for medical research and learning, promoting innovative approaches to cancer care that meet international standards.

Located in a strategic area within Dubai Healthcare City Phase 2, the facility promises not only to treat patients but also to offer hope and comfort to families, setting a new benchmark in regional cancer care. Its fully integrated model combines advanced medical treatment with supportive care, ensuring a holistic experience for every patient.
