The Dubai Health Authority (DHA) has announced that its Disaster and Crisis Management Office, which operates under the Public Health Protection Department, has officially joined the International Pathogen Surveillance Network (IPSN). This global network is recognized as one of the leading organizations in public health research, working to track and control the spread of infectious diseases worldwide.

DHA’s decision to become a part of this network highlights its continuous efforts to improve its research and scientific contributions in the field of public health. The membership will help DHA strengthen its ability to respond to health emergencies, not just in Dubai but also on a global scale.

Dr. Khalid Lootah, a consultant at DHA’s Public Health Protection Department, explained the significance of this step. He stated that the membership is a recognition of the efforts made by the Disaster and Crisis Management Office in protecting public health and preventing the spread of diseases. He further mentioned that by joining this global network, DHA’s health professionals will have access to international expertise and research opportunities. This collaboration will allow them to work on innovative solutions for controlling epidemics and improving disease prevention methods.

Dr. Lootah also highlighted that the IPSN operates as an initiative of the World Health Organization (WHO). It provides a unique platform for countries to work together in preventing the spread of infectious diseases and strengthening healthcare systems. The network currently includes more than 50 member countries, demonstrating the importance of international cooperation in public health.

The main goal of the IPSN is to help governments and health organizations track infectious diseases more effectively and understand how they spread. By sharing accurate data on different pathogens, the network helps experts develop better prevention and treatment strategies. Through this collaboration, scientists and researchers worldwide can work together to improve epidemic response and ensure better protection against future health threats.
