Dubai CommerCity, a pioneering free zone dedicated exclusively to digital commerce and a joint venture between the Dubai Integrated Economic Zones Authority (DIEZ) and Wasl Properties, has officially partnered with eBay, a leading global e-commerce platform. The partnership was formalized through a memorandum of understanding (MoU) signed to create a framework for enhancing business growth within Dubai CommerCity and expanding the reach of its companies via eBay’s online marketplaces.
The MoU signing ceremony took place at Dubai CommerCity's headquarters, where Abdulrahman Shaheen, Executive Vice President of Operations at Dubai CommerCity, and Ashish Chhabra, Vice President and General Manager of Global Verticals at eBay, were present. The event highlighted the strategic importance of this collaboration for both parties.

Abdulrahman Shaheen emphasized that the partnership with eBay would significantly boost the digital presence of companies based in Dubai CommerCity. “Our collaboration with eBay will open up new growth and investment opportunities by expanding their market reach to over 190 global markets,” Shaheen remarked. He expressed confidence that this initiative would enhance the unique services and benefits provided by Dubai CommerCity, including its advanced infrastructure and smart logistical facilities, tailored to meet the needs of both local and international businesses.
Ashish Chhabra noted that eBay’s focus in the UAE is to help local retailers tap into the global market. “We aim to connect UAE businesses with 132 million active buyers across 190 countries through our marketplace,” Chhabra said. He highlighted that the partnership would boost the supply of high-demand auto parts and luxury goods from the UAE, leveraging eBay’s technology to drive growth and reshape the digital commerce landscape. Chhabra also underscored the opportunity for companies to learn from eBay’s platform to expand their e-commerce operations globally.
As part of the collaboration, companies operating within Dubai CommerCity will gain access to international markets via eBay’s platform. They will benefit from training programs, seminars, and workshops conducted by eBay experts, focusing on digital trade export solutions, best practices, and strategies for maximizing export opportunities through digital retail. Additionally, businesses will receive a complimentary three-month eBay Basic store subscription to support their growth and global outreach.
Dubai CommerCity will support eBay by encouraging its companies to engage in the workshops and educational events organized by eBay. It will also provide the necessary infrastructure to facilitate these initiatives and offer comprehensive assistance to eBay platform users seeking to establish their business in Dubai.
eBay, established in 1995 in San Jose, California, operates as a global leader in e-commerce, connecting millions of sellers and buyers across more than 190 markets. In 2023, eBay facilitated over $73 billion in gross merchandise volume, underscoring its role as one of the world’s largest and most dynamic marketplaces for value and unique selection.
