The Vipers scored only 139 runs. This was because of great bowling from Dushmantha Chameera and Zahir Khan, who took three wickets each. The Vipers lost many wickets quickly in the middle of their innings. Sherfane Rutherford hit some big sixes, but it wasn't enough to get them a good score.
The Vipers started their batting with a good partnership. Fakhar Zaman hit a six and a four before being out early. Dan Lawrence and Alex Hales added runs, with Hales scoring 34 and Lawrence making 24. But soon after, the Vipers started losing wickets fast. Haider Ali got Hales out, Naib got rid of Lawrence, and Curran was stumped. This left the Vipers struggling at 80/4.
The Vipers were eventually all out for just 139 runs, even though Azam Khan and Wanindu Hasaranga tried to add runs. Chameera took another wicket to stop Rutherford’s late hitting.
In reply, the Capitals lost two wickets early, making the game close. However, Gulbadin Naib played an amazing innings, scoring 78 runs off 51 balls. He helped his team chase the target easily. He hit three sixes and two fours, playing very well. Naib formed a good partnership with Sikandar Raza, who made 24 runs. Together, they made sure the Capitals reached the target in 17.4 overs.
Naib was very happy with his performance. He said the team was ready to turn things around and build momentum after being at the bottom of the table. Vipers’ captain, Lockie Ferguson, said his team did not score enough runs and that the bowlers did well. He was confident they would bounce back in the next match.
The Capitals’ victory has made the tournament more exciting, and they will hope to keep winning in the coming matches.
