Dubai Airports has won the prestigious Operational Excellence Award from AirportLabs at the Passenger Terminal Expo 2025. This award honors a decade of innovation that has helped transform the operations of Dubai’s airports, including the world’s busiest international airport, Dubai International (DXB), and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC).

The award recognizes Dubai Airports for its leadership in improving operations, using new technologies, and pushing the limits of what airports can do. By adopting cloud-based systems and real-time technology, Dubai Airports has made travel more efficient, secure, and smoother for passengers, even during busy times.

This award was presented during the 10th anniversary of AirportLabs and highlights Dubai Airports’ ongoing commitment to improving operations and making the airport more future-ready. It’s a symbol of Dubai’s vision for the future of aviation and its determination to stay ahead with the best technologies.

Dubai Airports has focused on operational performance for years, using the latest technology to respond quickly and efficiently. This approach has helped the airport handle huge amounts of passengers while providing world-class service. By using real-time data and intelligent systems, Dubai Airports has been able to maintain smooth coordination and ensure passengers enjoy a seamless travel experience, even during peak times.

The airport’s investments in digital systems have also made it more adaptable and resilient. This award recognizes not only technological advances but also Dubai Airports’ commitment to growth, improvement, and global connectivity.

The journey of success began a decade ago with a strong partnership between Dubai Airports and AirportLabs. Together, they worked on designing and implementing innovative solutions for the airport. One of the earliest milestones was the introduction of the Airport Community App (ACA) and the VisionAir Flight Information Display System (FIDS) in 2016. These solutions improved how information was shared in the airport, making it easier for staff and passengers to stay updated.

Dubai Airports also made the bold decision to move critical systems to the cloud, which improved communication and made the airport more responsive. As part of this continued collaboration, they co-created several other systems to manage the busy airport environment. Some of these systems include:

  • SkyCore AODB: for centralizing operational data.
  • Real-Time DXB: for live situational awareness.
  • Pocket Flights: for mobile access to real-time flight information.
  • Allegra RMS: for better resource planning.

These innovations continue to help Dubai Airports maintain exceptional service, even when there are record numbers of passengers. The Operational Excellence Award is not just for the technology; it’s also a reflection of the airport’s commitment to being a leader in global aviation.
