Dubai International Airport is still the busiest airport in the world for people flying to other countries in 2024. This was shared in a new report by a group called Airports Council International (ACI) World.

The report says almost 9.5 billion people flew on planes around the world this year. That’s 9% more than last year and also more than before the COVID-19 pandemic in 2019.

The top 10 busiest airports in the world had about 855 million travelers in 2024. This number is also higher than last year and higher than in 2019.

The busiest airport in the world overall is still Atlanta Airport in the United States. But for international travel, Dubai keeps its strong second place, right after Atlanta. The third spot went to Dallas Fort Worth Airport, also in the U.S.

The report also shared that the amount of air cargo (packages and goods sent by planes) went up this year. Around 124 million tonnes of goods were sent by air, which is more than last year and even more than before the pandemic.

The head of ACI World, Justin Erbacci, said that big airports like Dubai are very important. He said these airports help the world by moving people and things, and help the economy and jobs grow. He also said ACI World will keep helping airports so that travel and trade stay smooth and safe.

Dubai Airport staying on top shows how important it is for connecting people around the world and helping the UAE grow stronger.
