Dubai is taking a major step toward transforming passenger journeys with a new partnership between Dubai Taxi Company (DTC) and Etihad Rail. The two transport leaders have signed a memorandum of understanding (MoU) to deliver integrated mobility services ahead of the launch of Etihad Rail’s passenger operations in 2026.
The agreement, sealed at the Global Rail Transport Infrastructure Conference in Abu Dhabi, marks a pivotal move to connect road and rail networks under one seamless travel ecosystem. The MoU was signed by Mansoor Rahma Alfalasi, CEO of DTC, and Azza Alsuwaidi, Deputy CEO of Etihad Rail Mobility.
Under this collaboration, DTC will provide mobility solutions at Etihad Rail stations in Dubai. Passengers arriving by train will have access to taxis, limousines, and VIP vehicles directly from the stations. The company will also handle congestion management at busy hubs, plan for special events, and introduce traffic simulations and advanced control systems to ensure smoother operations.

In addition, DTC will leverage its partnership with the Bolt app to enable passengers to book taxis and limousines through a single platform, offering a convenient end-to-end travel experience.
DTC currently commands nearly 45% of Dubai’s taxi market share, with over 6,200 taxis and a fleet of more than 600 premium limousines. In the first quarter of 2025 alone, it completed around 13 million trips, generating Dh588.3 million in revenue—up 5% year-over-year despite competitive discounts during Bolt’s launch. For the full year 2024, DTC reported Dh2.20 billion in revenue, reflecting a 12% rise, alongside a 19% growth in EBITDA.
The upcoming Etihad Rail passenger network is expected to reshape regional travel by drastically reducing journey times. Trips between Abu Dhabi and Dubai, for example, are projected to take less than an hour once operations begin in 2026.
This strategic alliance is set to redefine urban and intercity travel across the UAE, creating a unified mobility ecosystem that aligns with the nation’s vision for smarter, more connected transportation.
