Abu Dhabi is set to take student safety education to the next level. The Civil Defence Authority, in partnership with Alef Education, has rolled out the second phase of the Bader Educational Awareness Project (2025–2029), building on the success of its first phase that reached thousands of students across the UAE.

The ambitious initiative now aims to cover all public and private schools benefiting from Alef, totaling 548 institutions—173 in Abu Dhabi and 375 across other emirates. The project will impact an estimated 180,000 students in Abu Dhabi and 300,000 nationwide. Alongside student engagement, 6,000 teachers in Abu Dhabi and 13,000 across the UAE, as well as school administrators and safety officers, will receive comprehensive training to foster sustainable preventive awareness in schools.

The Bader Project is a first-of-its-kind global initiative, offering an integrated safety curriculum from kindergarten to grade 12. Students learn essential concepts on evacuation, alarms, first aid, fire safety, handling hazardous materials, and personal social responsibility. The program is bilingual, interactive, and progressively structured. By 2029, each educational stage will feature 13 lessons, ensuring students gradually build a strong understanding of safety principles.

Phase one set a strong foundation, with 357 out of 372 schools participating nationwide, benefiting nearly 59,000 students. Over 36,000 students completed the program in full, leading to measurable improvements: a 10.9% rise in emergency preparedness, a 9.3% boost in confidence during crises, an 11.2% increase in safety awareness, and an 11.7% improvement in willingness to share knowledge with peers.

The initiative has received multiple accolades for its innovative approach, including the Khalifa Award for Education in 2023, the Hamdan bin Rashid Award for Institutions Supporting Education in 2024, and the Dubai Quality Group – Ideas UAE Award for Best Joint Idea in the same year.

As the project expands, students graduating after completing the program will emerge not only well-prepared to respond effectively in emergencies but also capable of promoting a culture of safety within their families and communities, creating long-lasting positive impact across the nation.
