A drone attack targeted Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu's residence in the coastal town of Caesarea on Saturday, just hours after the killing of Yahya Sinwar, a senior Hamas leader. The attack, which did not result in any casualties, took place while Netanyahu was away from the area, according to a statement released by his spokesperson.
The official statement clarified, “A UAV (unmanned aerial vehicle) was launched towards the prime minister’s residence in Caesarea. The prime minister and his wife were not present at the location, and there were no injuries in the incident.” The Israeli military initially confirmed that the drone originated from Lebanon and hit a building, while two other drones entering Israeli territory were intercepted. This information was later reported by several sources.
Despite the tension in the region, no militant group, including Hezbollah, immediately claimed responsibility for the attack. Hezbollah, the Lebanese-based militia, has been engaged in an ongoing exchange of fire with Israel since October 2023, following a deadly attack on Israeli territory by Hamas. Both sides have suffered casualties as the conflict continues to escalate.

In a related event, Israel’s military announced on Friday that it had successfully destroyed a Hezbollah regional command center through an airstrike. The escalating conflict in Lebanon has resulted in a substantial death toll, with Lebanese health ministry figures placing the number of fatalities at 1,418, though the actual count may be higher.
Meanwhile, tensions remain high as Lebanese officials reported that two individuals were killed in an Israeli airstrike on Saturday, north of Beirut, in the Jounieh region. According to state media reports, the Israeli attack struck a vehicle on a key highway linking Beirut to the northern parts of Lebanon, marking the first strike in that region since Hezbollah and Israel resumed trading fire in recent months.
This surge in violence coincides with the aftermath of Sinwar's death, which came as part of an Israeli operation in southern Gaza. Sinwar, who orchestrated the October 7 attacks in which more than 1,200 Israelis were killed, had taken over as Hamas leader after the assassination of his predecessor, Ismail Haniyeh, in Tehran. His death has raised concerns that the conflict in the Middle East could see further intensification in the coming days, as both Hezbollah and Israel prepare for potential escalations across the region.
