Mumbai: Legendary Bollywood actor Dharmendra, fondly known as the He-Man of Indian Cinema, has been admitted to Mumbai’s Breach Candy Hospital following complaints of breathlessness. The 89-year-old actor is under close medical observation, and according to his family, his condition is stable and improving.
Amid a wave of misinformation and false social media rumours claiming the actor’s demise, Dharmendra’s wife, Hema Malini, and daughter, Esha Deol, issued strong statements requesting privacy and urging people not to spread unverified news.
Hema Malini expressed her anger on X (formerly Twitter), writing, “What is happening is unforgivable! How can responsible channels spread false news about a person who is responding to treatment and is recovering? Please give due respect to the family and its need for privacy.”
Esha Deol also took to Instagram to reassure fans, stating, “The media seems to be in overdrive and spreading false news. My father is stable and recovering. We request everyone to give our family privacy. Thank you for the prayers for papa’s speedy recovery.”
Reports suggest that Dharmendra has been under the care of senior cardiologist Dr. Dev Pahlajani at Breach Candy Hospital. While unconfirmed claims about the actor being on ventilator support circulated online, family members have not issued any official statement confirming the same.
Throughout the day, several celebrities and family members visited the hospital, including Hema Malini, Sunny Deol, Bobby Deol, and Abhay Deol. Bollywood stars Salman Khan, Shah Rukh Khan, and Ameesha Patel were also spotted at the hospital, offering their support and prayers for Dharmendra’s speedy recovery.
Security has been heightened outside Breach Candy Hospital as fans and media personnel continue to gather for updates. According to hospital sources, Dharmendra is responding positively to treatment and is under 24-hour supervision.
Fans across the country have flooded social media with heartfelt messages and prayers for the actor’s recovery. The hashtag #PrayersForDharmendra has been trending since early morning, with fans recalling his iconic performances in classics like Sholay, Chupke Chupke, Yaadon Ki Baaraat, and Rocky Aur Rani Kii Prem Kahani.
Dharmendra, who will turn 90 in December, has remained active in films and social media, continuing to inspire generations with his humility and charm. His most recent appearance was in Teri Baaton Mein Aisa Uljha Jiya earlier this year.
As of now, doctors have not released an official medical bulletin, but family sources insist there is no cause for panic. Dharmendra is stable, and the Deol family has urged everyone to rely only on official updates.
