Dubai Electricity and Water Authority (DEWA)’s Youth Council, in collaboration with Skill Lab—an initiative led by accomplished young Emiratis—successfully organized a vibrant Skills Day event. This significant initiative coincided with World Youth Skills Day 2024, observed annually on July 15th, and was aligned with the National Youth Agenda 2031’s objectives to empower and skillfully equip the youth of the UAE. The event attracted participation from 55 young employees of DEWA, who enthusiastically engaged in a series of technical workshops meticulously designed to enhance their skills across various disciplines.

Aysha Mohammad Alremeithi, President of DEWA’s Youth Council, emphasized the council’s unwavering commitment to creating a supportive work environment. She articulated the strategic focus of DEWA’s Youth Council on five key pillars: values, national identity, continuous education, professional development, future accelerators, and innovation. These pillars serve as guiding principles to cultivate a culture where young talents can unleash their creativity, innovate, and contribute effectively to DEWA’s mission of global excellence in energy and water management.

Reflecting on the impact of the Skills Day, Fatma Hassan Mohammad Ahli, Senior Engineer - Network Study – Power & Water Planning, praised the initiative for providing a platform where young professionals could share experiences and showcase their expertise. She highlighted the workshop’s role in encouraging participants to explore new areas and discover their passions.

Aliya Mohammed AlMehairi, Senior Accounts Officer – Finance, expressed gratitude for DEWA’s ongoing support in facilitating growth and development through meaningful activities. She eagerly anticipated implementing the skills acquired during the workshop both in her professional role and personal endeavors.

Sultan Bader Hussian Abdulla Albahri, Engineer - Distribution Inspection - Distribution Power, commended DEWA’s Youth Council for consistently introducing diverse and enriching activities that broaden horizons and equip participants with valuable skills applicable in various aspects of their lives.

The collaboration between DEWA’s Youth Council and Skill Lab exemplifies DEWA’s proactive approach to nurturing talent and fostering a culture of continuous learning and innovation. Such initiatives not only empower young Emiratis but also strengthen DEWA’s position as a leader in the energy and water sector, ensuring sustainable development and excellence in service delivery.
