Dubai Electricity and Water Authority PJSC (DEWA), Dubai’s sole provider of electricity and water services, has reported its strongest-ever financial performance, achieving record-breaking revenue and profit figures for the first nine months of 2025.
The state-run utility, listed on the Dubai Financial Market, posted consolidated revenues of AED 24.9 billion and an operating profit of AED 8.3 billion, marking a historic milestone in its growth journey. Net profit for the period stood at AED 6.8 billion, up from AED 5.5 billion in the same period last year, underscoring Dubai’s resilient and expanding energy sector.
Strong Financial and Operational Growth
DEWA’s revenue climbed from AED 23.5 billion in 2024, supported by a steady increase in demand for electricity, water, and district cooling services. The company’s gross profit rose to AED 9.9 billion, reflecting improved operational efficiency and strict cost control.
During this period, DEWA also generated cash from operations worth AED 15.2 billion and invested AED 7.8 billion in capital projects aimed at expanding renewable capacity, water desalination, and smart infrastructure. As of September 2025, total assets reached AED 233.4 billion, while shareholder equity remained solid at AED 89.1 billion.
Record Power and Water Output
The third quarter of 2025 saw DEWA’s power generation hit 20.5 terawatt hours (TWh) — a 4.46% rise from last year — with clean energy contributing 13.5% of total output. Peak power demand surged to 11.4 gigawatts (GW), setting a new operational record.
Water demand followed a similar upward trend, with 43.5 billion imperial gallons (BIG) of desalinated water consumed in Q3, a 6.74% increase year-on-year. The company’s daily peak water demand reached 487 million imperial gallons (MIG), also a new record.
Expanding Capacity and Network
In the latest quarter, DEWA commissioned two 132kV, three 33kV, and 520 11kV substations, reflecting ongoing investment in Dubai’s fast-growing infrastructure. The company’s installed generation capacity now stands at 17.979 GW, of which 3.86 GW (21.5%) comes from renewable energy sources. Its desalinated water production capacity has also expanded to 495 million imperial gallons per day.
As of September 2025, DEWA serves over 1.3 million customer accounts, a 4.7% rise from the previous year, reaffirming its central role in supporting Dubai’s expanding urban and industrial landscape.
