Delhi to Gurugram Air Taxis Coming Soon: Fare Details Inside

In a groundbreaking development, it's been revealed that travel from Delhi to Gurugram will soon be achievable in a mere 7 minutes, thanks to the upcoming launch of an all-electric air taxi service. InterGlobe Enterprises, the parent company of IndiGo, along with US-based Archer Aviation, are poised to introduce this innovative service in India by 2026. The initiative aims to revolutionize urban transportation by offering swift and efficient air travel between key locations.

Reports indicate that Archer Aviation will provide 200 electric vertical takeoff and landing (eVTOL) aircraft for this venture. Each aircraft will accommodate four passengers alongside the pilot. These state-of-the-art aircraft, akin to helicopters but with reduced noise levels and enhanced safety features, will transform the urban mobility landscape.

The partnership between InterGlobe and Archer Aviation will see the launch of similar air taxi services in Mumbai and Bengaluru, in addition to Delhi. As for the pricing, estimates suggest that a seven-minute flight from Connaught Place to Gurugram will likely cost between INR 2,000 to 3,000 per passenger, utilizing the five-seater eVTOL aircraft.

Adam Goldstein, Founder and CEO of Archer Aviation, shared that ongoing discussions with the US regulator Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) indicate advanced progress in the certification process for their aircraft. Certification is expected next year, followed by the commencement of the certification process with the Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) in India. Goldstein anticipates flight operations in India to commence by 2026, with plans to deploy 200 Midnight planes initially, focusing on Delhi, Mumbai, and Bengaluru.

Nikhil Goel, Chief Commercial Officer of Archer Aviation, disclosed that the five-seater Midnight aircraft will comfortably accommodate a pilot and four passengers. With six battery packs onboard, the aircraft will recharge fully in 30-40 minutes, providing one minute of flight time for every minute of charging. Discussions are underway regarding the necessary infrastructure and operational aspects of flight, including securing real estate for vertiports or launchpads and other essential facilities to kickstart flight operations.
