The National Health Insurance Company - Daman has announced significant updates to its Basic Health Insurance Plan, aligning with regulations set forth by the Department of Health - Abu Dhabi (DoH), slated to take effect on July 1, 2024. These revisions underscore Daman's commitment to ensuring uninterrupted access to high-quality healthcare services for all members of the community, while concurrently streamlining healthcare delivery within the emirate to meet international standards and best practices.
Under the updated Basic Health Insurance Plan, policyholders will maintain an annual health insurance cover of AED 250,000. This coverage encompasses access to a vast network of over 1,250 healthcare facilities spanning Abu Dhabi, Al Ain, and the Al Dhafra region. Notably, policyholders will also benefit from specialized services provided by Abu Dhabi's renowned Centers of Excellence (CoEs), such as Cleveland Clinic Abu Dhabi for adult cardiac surgery and stroke, Sheikh Shakhbout Medical City (SSMC) for stroke, and Sheikh Khalifa Medical City (SKMC) for pediatric cardiac surgery, among others.

Crucially, essential services including physiotherapy, ambulance services, and maternity care will remain integral components of the Basic Health Insurance Plan, underscoring its comprehensive nature. Distinguished by competitive offerings both regionally and globally, health insurance schemes in Abu Dhabi uphold unified standards and quality across diverse insurance plans, including the Basic Health Insurance Plan.
The updated regulations encompass adjustments to co-payments for various services within the Basic Health Insurance Plan, including diagnostic and laboratory services, inpatient care, and one-day procedures. Daman has clarified that these revisions entail a 20% co-payment on diagnostic services, including laboratory tests and radiology, with a maximum cap of AED 50 per visit. Additionally, policyholders will incur a co-payment of AED 200 for each inpatient service and one-day procedure, capped at AED 500 annually.
Moreover, medication coverage under the Basic Health Insurance Plan has been set at AED 1,500 annually, with a 30% co-payment requirement. Furthermore, the annual premium for domestic helpers sponsored by UAE nationals, aged under 60 years, will amount to AED 750. Adjustments to the Basic Health Insurance Plan premiums for other categories have also been made, reflecting various age groups.
In essence, these updates underscore Daman's unwavering commitment to providing accessible, high-quality healthcare services while ensuring affordability and sustainability within Abu Dhabi's healthcare ecosystem.
