Bomb Threat Emails Force School Evacuations in Chandigarh

Chandigarh, India — January 28, 2026:

At least nine private schools in northern India received bomb threat emails early Wednesday morning, prompting emergency evacuations of students and staff.

According to officials, the threats were received around 8:00 a.m. local time in several schools across Chandigarh and Gurugram. Police and bomb detection squads were immediately dispatched to the affected institutions, and precautionary security checks were carried out.

In Chandigarh, the schools that reportedly received the threatening emails include Saint Kabir Public School, Ryan International School, Vivek High School, Sacred Heart Senior Secondary School, Chitkara International School, and Bhavan Vidyalaya. Four schools in Gurugram were also targeted with similar emails.

Authorities asked students and school staff to vacate the premises as a safety measure. Police officials said investigations are underway to trace the source of the emails, and further security measures have been strengthened.

No explosives or suspicious objects have been found so far, but officials are treating the matter seriously due to the safety of children and staff.
