The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has successfully brought back three criminals from the United Arab Emirates (UAE) with the help of Interpol and state police forces. The three fugitives were wanted by different state police in India.
On April 2, 2025, two of the fugitives, Suhail Basheer and Tofik Najir Khan, were brought back to India. They landed at Cochin International Airport with heavy security. Suhail Basheer was wanted by the Kerala Police for a serious crime. He is accused of sexually assaulting a minor, and the Kerala Police had asked for his arrest by issuing a Red Notice, which is a global alert for wanted criminals. After finding him in the UAE, the Kerala Police team took him back to India.

The second person, Tofik Najir Khan, was wanted by the Gujarat Police for criminal activities such as forgery and cheating. The Gujarat Police also issued a Red Notice for his arrest, and he was returned to India along with Basheer. Gujarat Police took Khan into custody as soon as he landed in Cochin.
A third fugitive, Aaditya Jain, was brought back two days later, on April 4, 2025. Jain was wanted by the Rajasthan Police for making threats to businesspeople through phone calls and even shooting at them when they didn’t pay up. A Red Notice for his arrest was also issued. Jain was escorted back by a Rajasthan Police team and landed at Jaipur International Airport.
The CBI, which works as India’s National Central Bureau for Interpol, was responsible for tracking down and returning these criminals. They worked closely with Interpol’s National Central Bureau in Abu Dhabi and with the state police forces. The CBI also uses a platform called Bharatpol to coordinate with state police to catch fugitives. Over the last few years, more than 100 criminals have been brought back to India because of this cooperation.
A senior CBI official told the media, "These arrests show our strong commitment to bringing criminals to justice, no matter where they hide."
This is an important step in making sure criminals can’t escape justice and showing how different law enforcement teams can work together across countries to catch them.
