AR Rahman-Saira Banu's Daughter Raheema on Separation: "Through Every Hardship..."

New Delhi: Famous musician AR Rahman and his wife, Saira Banu, have decided to divorce after being married for 29 years. They shared the news on Tuesday, which shocked many people. After this announcement, their daughter, Raheema Rahman, posted a message on Instagram. She shared a video of snow falling with a message that said, "Through every hardship, there is ease. Your Lord is going to give you and you will be satisfied."

Raheema also asked everyone to respect her family's privacy. In another post, she said, "I would greatly appreciate it if this matter could be treated with the utmost privacy & respect. Thank you for your understanding ."

Raheema’s siblings, Khatija and Ameen, also asked for privacy. They shared a message on Instagram that said, "We kindly request everyone to respect our privacy during this time. Thank you for your understanding ."

AR Rahman and Saira Banu, who have three children — Khatija, Raheema, and Ameen — confirmed their separation in a statement from their lawyer, Vandana Shah. The statement said that the decision was difficult for them. It said, "After many years of marriage, Mrs. Saira has decided to separate from Mr. AR Rahman. Even though they still love each other, the problems in their relationship have created a gap they cannot fix right now. Mrs. Saira asks for privacy and understanding from everyone during this difficult time."

Later, AR Rahman talked about the separation on X (formerly Twitter). He wrote, "We had hoped to stay together for thirty years, but everything has an end. Even the throne of God may shake from the pain of broken hearts. But, even in this sadness, we try to find meaning, even though things may never be the same. To our friends, thank you for your kindness and for respecting our privacy during this hard time ."
