Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) continues proactive efforts to ensure the safety, compliance, and sustainability of the Dubai Metro and Tram networks.
According to Mohammed Al Ameeri, Director of Rail Right-of-Way, RTA, a total of 7,129 field visits were conducted across the rail network in 2025. These visits helped identify several technical observations, which were promptly addressed by RTA teams following approved procedures. Corrective measures were implemented immediately to maintain safe operations and mitigate potential risks to infrastructure and train movement.
In addition, RTA carried out 11 inspection campaigns last year in collaboration with real estate developers and relevant entities. These inspections covered all lines and stations, monitoring contractor performance, infrastructure readiness, and adherence to approved safety standards. The campaigns also enabled early detection of any issues that could affect passenger safety.
Al Ameeri highlighted that RTA’s efforts follow an integrated strategy built on three pillars:
These field visits and inspection campaigns form part of a proactive regulatory framework, aimed at identifying and resolving potential challenges in line with international best practices. This reflects Dubai’s commitment to a safe, reliable, and sustainable mass transit system that keeps pace with rapid urban growth.
The RTA will continue periodic monitoring and awareness programs in partnership with strategic entities to safeguard passengers and public transport users across Dubai.
