The flight, called AK128, was on its way to Shenzhen, China, but had to return to Kuala Lumpur International Airport after the fire started in the plane’s right engine. The fire happened around 9:59 pm on Wednesday. It was caused by a "pneumatic ducting burst," which is when a part of the plane’s engine broke and caused the fire.

The fire was quickly put out by the plane’s safety system. The pilot decided to return to the airport, and the plane landed safely around midnight.

After the plane landed, firefighters helped make sure everyone on board safely left the aircraft. They also checked the plane to make sure there were no more fires or problems.

The 171 passengers and crew members were all safe and unharmed. AirAsia’s parent company, Capital A, did not comment on the incident right away.

Everything was handled quickly and safely, and the passengers were able to exit without any issues.
