The Consumer Electronics Show (CES) will be held next week in Las Vegas, where many new gadgets, robots, and vehicles with smart technology will be shown. The event will also address concerns about possible tariffs after U.S. President-elect Donald Trump’s threats.

CES will officially begin on Tuesday, but many product announcements will be made before that. Smart technology, also called artificial intelligence (AI), will be a big topic at the show. There will also be many kinds of self-driving vehicles like tractors, boats, lawnmowers, and golf trolleys.
Everyone will be talking about smart technology," said Carolina Milanesi, an expert. From fridges to ovens, people will mention smart technology, even if it’s not fully there yet.
Jensen Huang, the CEO of Nvidia, will give a keynote speech about the company’s new smart computer chips. Other companies like Intel, AMD, and Qualcomm will also have announcements.
CES will also focus on cars, with many companies showing off new self-driving cars and safety features. "CES has become a place to show off cars, and it’s even more important this year," said Avid Greengard, a tech expert. Tesla CEO Elon Musk’s connection with Trump may help get rid of some rules for self-driving cars.
Flying cars, which are not yet part of everyday life, will also be shown. "You will start to see flying cars you can buy," said Rob Ederle, an analyst. "But getting approval to fly them is a whole other problem."
There will also be robots designed to help with work, be good companions, and even act as pets. Many products that help with health, like gadgets to track how healthy you are, will also be featured. "Health technology is going to be very popular," Greengard said.
Smart technology will also be in homes, with new devices like robot vacuum cleaners and smart appliances that learn what people want.
However, there are worries that tariffs could raise prices on many products at CES. If Trump puts tariffs on goods from countries like China, Canada, and Mexico, it might make products more expensive. "Vendors at CES will be worried about this," Ederle said. "But many talks will happen privately."
There will also be private talks about how to handle problems in the supply chain caused by tariffs, according to Greengard. Milanesi is curious to see how companies from China will react to the tariffs. "It will be interesting to see how foreign companies feel about Trump’s policies on technology," she said.
Chinese companies like TCL and Hisense, which sell a lot in the U.S., will be at CES. "They’ll be back and probably bigger than before," Greengard said. But he also mentioned the growing divide between China and other countries, especially in mobile phones and electric cars.
While CES will show off the latest technology, the effect of tariffs and trade policies will also be a big topic at the event.
