Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi visited Tajikistan’s capital, Dushanbe, to discuss expanding trade, investment, and political cooperation between the two countries. During his visit on November 22, 2025, Wang Yi highlighted China’s commitment to being a trustworthy and reliable partner to Tajikistan.
Wang Yi emphasized that China plans to increase imports of high-quality agricultural products from Tajikistan. Additionally, he encouraged Chinese companies to invest more in the landlocked Central Asian country, supporting Tajikistan’s economic growth and development.
The visit also focused on political support. Wang thanked Tajikistan for its firm backing of China on sensitive issues, including Taiwan. He stressed China’s firm position against any external interference in Taiwan’s affairs and expressed strong opposition to the resurgence of Japanese militarism. This statement came after recent tensions caused by remarks from the Japanese Prime Minister about Taiwan’s defense.
Furthermore, Wang Yi underlined the importance of upholding the international consensus on the one-China principle, which affirms Taiwan as part of China. He also mentioned the shared goal of preserving the achievements of World War Two and maintaining regional stability.
The two countries agreed to deepen cooperation beyond trade. They planned to work together on expanding mineral resource development in Tajikistan and enhancing security through joint bilateral patrols. This strengthened partnership reflects growing ties between China and Tajikistan in economic, political, and security fields.
Overall, Wang Yi’s visit reinforced China’s role as a key partner for Tajikistan, promoting mutual growth and stability in the region. Both nations expressed commitment to long-term collaboration that benefits their people and contributes to regional peace.
