Kabul — Afghanistan has announced its 22-player squad for the upcoming tri-nation cricket series with Pakistan and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). The first match of the tournament will be played on August 29 against Pakistan.
The team will have a two-week training camp to get ready for the tournament. This camp will help the players improve their skills, fitness, and teamwork before the big matches begin.
Star spinner Rashid Khan will be the captain of the Afghanistan team. Rashid is one of the most well-known cricketers in the world and has played in many international leagues. He brings strong leadership and experience to the team.
Other key players in the squad include:
Azmatullah Omarzai – an all-rounder who can bowl and bat well
Rahmanullah Gurbaz – a young and aggressive opening batsman
Fazalhaq Farooqi – a fast bowler with good form
Mohammad Nabi – a senior player with years of experience
The tri-series is a short tournament where three teams play against each other. Each team will play matches to earn points. The top two teams will play in the final match.
For Afghanistan, this series is a great chance to prepare for bigger tournaments and test new players. Playing against strong teams like Pakistan and UAE will help the players learn and grow.
The Afghanistan Cricket Board has planned a two-week training camp before the tri-series starts. This camp is important because it gives the team time to:
Work on fitness
Practice skills like batting, bowling, and fielding
Build good team spirit
Improve game strategy
Training camps also help coaches find out which players are in the best form and ready to play in the final 15-player squad.
The 22-player squad has a good mix of young talents and experienced stars. Players like Mohammad Nabi and Rashid Khan will guide the younger cricketers. This is very important for team balance and performance.
Fans will be watching closely to see how young players perform, as they might become future stars of Afghan cricket.
Cricket has become one of the most loved sports in Afghanistan. The country has produced many talented players who are respected around the world. Tournaments like this give Afghan players a chance to show their talent on an international stage.
The team’s performance in this tri-series will help them prepare for future global events, like the Asia Cup and ICC tournaments.
With the tri-series set to begin on August 29, excitement is building among fans. Afghanistan will first take on Pakistan, a strong cricketing nation. The team will then play against UAE, which is also showing growth in cricket.
Under the leadership of Rashid Khan and with support from key players, Afghanistan will look to perform well and gain confidence. This tournament is not just about winning—it is about learning, growing, and getting ready for the future of Afghan cricket.
