Hosted by the Department of Energy – Abu Dhabi, in collaboration with key governmental stakeholders, the IDRA World Congress 2024 will spotlight integrated water resource management, focusing on desalination and water reuse to meet the escalating global demand for water in alignment with the UN Sustainable Development Goal Number 6, "Water and Sanitation for All."
His Excellency Eng Ahmed Mohammed Al Rumaithi, Undersecretary of DoE, expressed pride in the strategic partnership between the DoE and ADNEC Group, emphasizing its role in enhancing the success of the global event hosted in Abu Dhabi. He highlighted Abu Dhabi's commitment to sustainable development, particularly in water conservation, citing initiatives such as the Mohamed bin Zayed Water Initiative and the adoption of low-carbon technologies in water desalination projects.
As a substantial portion of the global population still lacks access to safe water, sanitation, and handwashing facilities, the IDRA World Congress 2024 aims to explore new desalination and water reuse technologies as resilient solutions to meet rising water demand. The congress will identify sustainable water security options to address challenges posed by population growth, industrial requirements, and climate change.
Humaid Matar Al Dhaheri, Managing Director and Group CEO of ADNEC Group, emphasized the organization's commitment to supporting and promoting the business tourism sector and international events. He underscored the significance of hosting the IDRA World Congress in Abu Dhabi as part of ADNEC Group's efforts to diversify the national economy and showcase the emirate as a premier destination for investment across various sectors, especially sustainable development.
Spanning five days, the IDRA World Congress 2024 agenda will feature a comprehensive program, including technical sessions, plenary sessions, a leaders summit, a desalination hackathon, roundtable sessions, idra academy courses, plant tours, receptions, a gala dinner, and a closing luncheon with technical award presentations.
To ensure the event's success, ADNEC Venues operations team and venue management services will provide full support. With its expansive facilities, ADNEC Centre Abu Dhabi stands as the largest venue for exhibitions and conferences in the MENA region, offering an ideal setting for major international gatherings.
