His Excellency Abdulla Al Marzouqi, Director General of the ITC, highlighted that offering taxi services via international apps enhances the overall efficiency of taxi operations in the emirate. This allows for easier ride bookings and locating vehicles electronically, benefiting all members of the community. The initiative connects public and private taxis, as well as licensed private vehicles, with passengers through secure electronic platforms and smart apps. Al Marzouqi emphasized that it aligns with Abu Dhabi’s goals of reducing its carbon footprint by increasing the operational efficiency of its transport systems.
Abu Dhabi Mobility aims to improve and modernize transport services by providing digital connectivity between passengers and service operators, with the goal of offering fast, safe, and convenient transport options.
Yango’s General Manager for the GCC, Islam Abdul Karim, expressed his excitement about the collaboration, noting that the partnership combines innovative technology with Abu Dhabi’s advanced infrastructure. He emphasized that Yango will contribute to enhancing urban mobility and offer a seamless transportation experience for both residents and tourists.
During the trial phase of the launch, more than 300 taxis operated within Abu Dhabi, completing over 8,000 trips in the past five months via the Yango app. The app, available for iOS and Android, supports multiple languages, including Arabic and English, and has over 1,500 registered taxis. Users can easily order a car by downloading the app, enabling geolocation to identify their location, and finding the nearest driver.
Additionally, the service includes a secure system for protecting personal belongings left in taxis. Drivers are encouraged to return lost items to their owners or to the nearest police station. They are required to document any lost items in cooperation with the franchise companies and report this to Abu Dhabi Mobility if necessary.
Abu Dhabi Mobility is committed to enhancing transport services by introducing cutting-edge technology and safety features for both passengers and drivers. Their efforts aim to provide secure and efficient transport solutions, benefiting residents and visitors alike, while also reducing the emirate’s carbon footprint through smarter transport systems.
