The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi (DoH), the governing body for healthcare in the emirate, has unveiled Sahatna, an integrated mobile application aimed at empowering residents to take control of their health. Launched at GITEX Global 2024 in Dubai, the app is designed to simplify access to a wide array of health and wellness services, including comprehensive appointment booking, teleconsultations, health records, genomic reports, and various advanced features.
Sahatna, which translates to "Our Health" in Arabic, is a significant step towards improving the patient healthcare experience across Abu Dhabi. This transformative application aims to promote behavioral changes throughout the emirate, ultimately leading to better long-term health outcomes for residents. By harnessing the power of data, Sahatna exemplifies the DoH's commitment to creating a patient-centric healthcare system that meets the unique health needs of the community.

With Sahatna’s comprehensive appointment scheduling system, users can access the entire healthcare ecosystem at their fingertips. They can choose to engage with their healthcare providers either in person or via video consultations. The app also allows users to access their medical records through Malaffi and enables them to connect with their loved ones' profiles, keeping track of family health, vaccination records, and screenings. Moreover, participants in the Emirati Genome Program (EGP) will be able to access personalized genomic reports, empowering them to make informed health and lifestyle choices based on their genetic profiles.
The app was officially unveiled in the presence of notable figures, including His Excellency Mansoor Ibrahim Al Mansoori, Chairman of DoH, and Her Excellency Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi, Undersecretary of DoH. Alongside prominent leaders and representatives from partner organizations, the launch underscored Abu Dhabi's commitment to advancing its healthcare sector.
Dr. Noura Khamis Al Ghaithi emphasized that Abu Dhabi continues to make great strides in cementing its position as a leading healthcare destination globally, transforming patient care and population health management. At the DoH, the goal is to create a thriving society by empowering residents to lead happier, healthier, and longer lives. She attributed the development of Sahatna to the visionary leadership of the emirate and the collaborative efforts of dedicated partners who have contributed to establishing a robust digital healthcare infrastructure.
Sahatna includes several innovative features, such as an AI-powered symptom checker that enables users to enter their symptoms and receive assessments of potential conditions. This tool helps users gauge the severity of their symptoms, guiding them on whether to seek emergency care or visit an urgent care facility. Additionally, the app integrates with wearable devices to monitor wellness metrics, including sleep patterns and activity levels. By analyzing users’ activity history, it also provides personalized wellness goals to encourage a healthier lifestyle.
The collaboration between the DoH and Abu Dhabi Health Data Service (ADHDS), the operator of Malaffi, has been instrumental in the creation of Sahatna. Kareem Shahin, CEO of ADHDS, stated that the partnership with the Department of Health – Abu Dhabi to deliver Sahatna represents a transformative leap towards a healthier and more connected future. Together, they are committed to empowering individuals with seamless access to quality healthcare and personalized wellness solutions.
Ibrahim Al Jallaf, Executive Director of Digital Health at the DoH, revealed that over 60% of Abu Dhabi’s healthcare facilities are already connected to the Sahatna app, providing instant access to a wide range of healthcare services with just one touch. He mentioned that the current version of the app is just the beginning, with an ambitious roadmap ahead that includes advanced features tailored to individual needs. These will make healthcare more understandable, efficient, and personalized, incorporating enhancements to access primary healthcare and IFHAS screening services, as well as introducing an AI patient assistant.
Visitors to Abu Dhabi can also take advantage of Sahatna's services, which help identify the nearest healthcare facilities, preview available services, and learn about options for both in-person and remote consultations.
At GITEX 2024, attendees are invited to experience innovative healthcare solutions aimed at delivering personalized care and empowering individuals to take charge of their health. The Department of Health – Abu Dhabi will be exhibiting under the Abu Dhabi Government pavilion, located in Hall 19, Stand B20, Sheikh Saeed Hall, from October 14-18, 2024. Residents and visitors can download the Sahatna app from the Google Play Store, marking a significant milestone in Abu Dhabi’s journey toward a healthier future.
