Over the weekend, eight men from Tajikistan, suspected of having connections to ISIS, were apprehended in New York, Philadelphia, and Los Angeles. The arrests were conducted by personnel from U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) and were part of an operation monitored by the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Force.
These individuals entered the United States through the southern border, and initial background checks conducted at the time of their crossing showed no prior criminal records. However, they had been on the radar of the FBI's terrorism task force due to a broader investigation into potential terrorist threats originating in central Europe.

Although they have not been formally charged with terrorism-related offenses, the FBI alerted ICE about their potential ties to ISIS, leading to their arrest on immigration charges. They are currently detained and facing removal proceedings before an immigration judge. There is a possibility that they may face additional charges related to terrorism in the future.
The arrests were made in close coordination between the Department of Homeland Security and the FBI's Joint Terrorism Task Forces. This operation underscores ongoing efforts to address potential security threats and enforce immigration laws in the United States.
