VOX Cinemas launches new IMAX experience at Yas Mall with Avatar movie

Abu Dhabi, UAE – December 18, 2025: VOX Cinemas, the largest cinema company in the Middle East, owned by Majid Al Futtaim Entertainment, has launched a new, improved IMAX cinema hall at Yas Mall, Abu Dhabi. This new IMAX experience is designed to make movies bigger, clearer, and more exciting than ever before.

The IMAX screen at Yas Mall is now the biggest in the mall, measuring 23.2 meters wide and going from the floor all the way to the ceiling. This gives viewers a very large and clear picture that makes watching movies feel more real. The screen uses special IMAX laser technology that shows pictures with very bright and sharp colors. The sound system has 12 speakers placed all around the hall to give powerful and clear sound, making the audience feel like they are inside the movie.

All seats in the IMAX hall are comfortable glider and recliner seats, so viewers can relax and enjoy the movie fully. This upgrade makes the IMAX experience one of the best in the world.

The IMAX with Laser system is designed to use energy efficiently and last for a long time. Every movie shown in this theater goes through a special process called DMR, which makes every scene clearer and more detailed, exactly how the filmmakers want it.

Besides the IMAX upgrade, VOX Cinemas is also improving other screens in Yas Mall. Eleven regular screens have been changed to “Premier” screens with modern glider and recliner seats for extra comfort. The existing MAX auditorium has also been upgraded with Premier seating.

VOX Cinemas is also expanding THEATRE, their luxury cinema experience. THEATRE offers fine dining, personal service, leather reclining seats, and a high-class movie experience. The 4DX auditorium will be remodeled into another THEATRE screen, adding 36 more premium seats.

The common areas like the lobby and candy bar are also being refreshed to make sure every part of the cinema offers a comfortable and high-quality experience, matching the new IMAX and THEATRE upgrades.
