Vietnam’s Economy Soars 7.85% in First Nine Months of 2025

Vietnam’s economy expanded at an impressive 7.85 percent during the first nine months of 2025, marking one of the strongest performances in over a decade. This growth, recorded by the National Statistics Office of Vietnam, is second only to the 9.44 percent spike seen during the same period in 2022.

The country’s agro-forestry-fishery sector showed steady progress, with crop production rising 3.46 percent, forestry increasing 6.46 percent, and fisheries growing 4.48 percent. Despite being smaller in scale compared to industry and services, this sector contributed a solid 11.3 percent to the country’s GDP.

Industrial and Construction Sectors Lead Growth

Industry and construction remained the key pillars of Vietnam’s economic expansion. Industrial output jumped 8.55 percent, with manufacturing and processing rising even faster at 9.92 percent. Construction activity also showed strong momentum, increasing 9.33 percent, signaling robust infrastructure development and investment.

Services Sector Thrives on Consumption and Tourism

The services sector grew by 8.49 percent, fueled by strong domestic consumption, a rebound in tourism, and a vibrant retail market. Wholesale and retail trade increased 8.28 percent, transport and warehousing surged 10.68 percent, banking and insurance rose 7.06 percent, and accommodation and catering climbed 10.15 percent. Overall, services accounted for the largest share of GDP at 42.92 percent.

Trade and Investment Boost Demand

Final consumption expenditure climbed 8.07 percent, while capital formation increased 8.52 percent. Exports rose 15.51 percent, although imports grew slightly faster at 16.75 percent, reflecting the country’s deepening integration with global supply chains.

Vietnam’s balanced growth across agriculture, industry, and services highlights the resilience and dynamism of its economy, positioning the country as a standout performer in Southeast Asia.
