Dubai Airports Unveils 10-Year Plan for Total Accessibility

Dubai Airports has announced a groundbreaking 10-year strategy to transform Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central – Al Maktoum International (DWC) into the world’s most accessible airports by 2035. The initiative aims to make travel seamless for all, particularly the People of Determination (PoD), reinforcing Dubai’s global position as a disability-friendly city.

The long-term plan focuses on strengthening airport infrastructure, enhancing guest experiences at every touchpoint, and aligning with international accessibility standards. Travelers can expect improvements in mobility, visual, hearing, and sensory support services, along with technology-driven assistance tools.

A new public awareness campaign, “DXB for All”, accompanies this next phase. Co-created with PoD, the campaign highlights real-life stories of travelers navigating busy terminals. From children with sensory sensitivities to guests relying on sign language, tactile guidance, and wheelchair assistance, the campaign demonstrates how airports can cater to diverse needs.

The initiative builds on the 2022 campaign “We All Meet the World Differently”, emphasizing that true accessibility requires more than physical infrastructure—it demands a cultural shift towards empathy and understanding.

Dubai Airports is offering a variety of services to support inclusive travel. Notable examples include the Travel Planner, an online visual guide for journey preparation, the Sunflower Lanyard for autism-friendly priority access, quiet Assisted Travel Lounges, complimentary parking, dedicated taxis, hearing loops, and specialized wheelchair services. Over 520 airport touchpoints now include hearing support, while terminals are equipped with sensory-friendly routes.

The program is a collaborative effort across Dubai’s oneDXB community, involving Emirates, flydubai, Dubai Police, Dubai Customs, dnata, Dubai Duty Free, and others, ensuring a fully integrated, guest-centered experience.

This ambitious accessibility drive underscores Dubai Airports’ commitment to inclusivity, setting a benchmark for airports worldwide and paving the way for a travel experience that genuinely caters to everyone.
