GCC GDP Rises 3% in Q1 2025, Non-Oil Sector Leads Growth

The Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) economies marked a steady start to 2025, with the region’s Gross Domestic Product (GDP) reaching $588.1 billion in the first quarter, up 3 percent from $570.9 billion in the same period last year.

Non-oil sectors emerged as the main driver of growth, contributing 73.2 percent to the total GDP at current prices. Oil-related activities, while still significant, accounted for 26.8 percent, highlighting the ongoing economic diversification across GCC states.

Compared to the previous quarter, the region’s GDP showed a modest rise of 0.1 percent from $587.8 billion in Q4 2024, reflecting stable momentum amid global economic uncertainties.

The data reflects a broader trend of GCC economies focusing on expanding non-oil industries, including finance, tourism, logistics, and manufacturing, as countries continue efforts to reduce dependence on hydrocarbon revenues.

Analysts note that while oil prices remain influential, the growing contribution of non-oil sectors underlines the resilience and adaptability of the GCC economic framework in a changing global landscape.
