Etihad-SAT, the UAE’s first radar satellite, was launched into space on Saturday. It lifted off on a SpaceX Falcon 9 rocket from the Vandenberg Space Force Base in California at 10:43 am. This is a big step for the UAE in space technology.

Etihad-SAT can take clear pictures of Earth in any weather, day or night. This will help in many ways, such as finding oil spills in the sea, managing natural disasters like floods and storms, and making sea travel safer. The satellite will send back important data that will help different industries and the government.

Last month, His Highness Sheikh Hamdan bin Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Crown Prince of Dubai and the UAE’s Deputy Prime Minister and Defence Minister, shared the news that the Etihad-SAT project was completed. He said this project shows how the UAE is growing in space science and praised young Emirati engineers who worked hard to make this happen.

Sheikh Hamdan also said that the UAE wants to be a world leader in space research and that this satellite is an important step toward that goal. He added that the country will keep working on new space projects and pushing the limits of science and technology.

With the launch of Etihad-SAT, the UAE has shown its strong skills in space research. This is another success in the country’s plan to use technology for a better future.
