UAE President and Vice-President Welcome international guests at the World Governments Summit 2025

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, President of the UAE, and His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, Vice President, Prime Minister of the UAE, and Ruler of Dubai, have warmly welcomed international guests attending the World Governments Summit (WGS) 2025. The summit, which carries the theme 'Shaping Future Governments', is being held in Dubai from February 11 to 13, 2025.

This year's edition has attracted such a large number of participants. Over 30 heads of state and government are attending, over 80 international and regional organisations, 140 government delegations, and over 6,000 attendees are present.

A Vision for Shared Future

His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed reaffirmed the UAE’s dedication to supporting international cooperation and working towards global development. He stressed that unity and teamwork are essential for ensuring stability, growth, and a better future for all.

"We are pleased to welcome world leaders and governments as esteemed guests of the UAE. The World Governments Summit will provide a great platform for dialogue, vision sharing, and collaboration. No country can alone grapple with current challenges in the world today, and joint efforts are required for effective solutions.

He added, "The world is very interconnected. The change that is happening today in the world will touch everyone. Progress depends on shared efforts for sustainable solutions and equal opportunities for all.

Strengthening Global Dialogue

His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum noted the increasing global presence at the summit, which he said strengthens its role as the leading international platform for governments.

"The growing participation in the World Governments Summit shows its importance as a key forum for discussing the future. The world is going through rapid and historic changes, and governments must be ready, proactive, and adaptable."

He further explained that the summit helps prepare the governments for the future by defining challenges and opportunities, creating partnerships, and devising strategies to ensure progress for all.

A Packed Agenda for WGS 2025

The World Governments Summit 2025 has a rich and diverse program that includes:

More than 200 interactive sessions with over 300 global speakers

High-level meetings and roundtable discussions by more than 400 ministers in 30 areas

21 global forums focused on key sectors in collaboration with major international organizations and technology leaders

30 strategic reports from leading think tanks, research bodies, and global experts.

The summit will provide a platform for thought leadership in which government officials, policymakers, business leaders, and academics share ideas, provide insights, and develop innovative solutions for the future.

High-Level Ministerial Meetings

Over two days, through the summit, ministerial meetings and high-level discussions will feature. These would be attended by heads of state, government officers, leaders in international organizations, experts, as well as from the private sectors, to further find solutions towards major global challenges and new grounds for cooperation.

The summit for this year covers six major themes that shape future governance and development worldwide:

Effectively Governed – Stronger accountability, transparency and efficiency in leadership.

Financing the Future, the Global Economy – Exploring ways to get sustainable economic growth.

Climate and Crisis Mitigation, Resilient Cities-Addressing challenges of climate; building adaptable cities.

Human-Centric Futures and Capacity Building People, Well-Being

Global Health Transformations-Acceleration of healthcare delivery systems and overcoming global health.

Emerging Frontiers and the Future – Getting ready for science, technology, and innovation breakthroughs.

WGS 2025 will also bestow several prestigious global awards that recognize excellence in governance and innovation. There are:
