In a significant step toward strengthening their long-standing partnership, the UAE and Kazakhstan held the tenth session of the UAE-Kazakhstan Joint Committee in Astana, co-chaired by Suhail bin Mohammed Al Mazrouei and Zhaslan Madiyev. The meeting brought renewed momentum to cooperation in key strategic sectors as both sides reviewed progress and outlined future priorities.
The talks covered a wide range of areas including investment, finance, international cooperation, transport services, health, space, artificial intelligence and energy. Officials from both nations noted the steady rise in economic exchanges, with non-oil trade reaching USD 5.6 billion in 2024—reflecting the expanding scope of joint ventures and growing investor confidence.
The UAE delegation recalled the visit of His Highness Sheikh Khaled bin Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan to Astana in May 2025, which had opened fresh avenues for collaboration in innovation, sustainability and long-term economic development. The discussions in Astana aimed to further translate this momentum into practical steps that support shared growth.
The session concluded with the signing of the official minutes, reaffirming the two countries’ commitment to turning agreed-upon priorities into concrete outcomes. Alongside the main meeting, Al Mazrouei chaired a roundtable with Renat Bekturov, Governor of the Astana International Financial Centre, to review ongoing projects and identify new opportunities for cooperation involving government institutions and private-sector partners.
Both sides highlighted the need to closely monitor the implementation of current initiatives while encouraging stronger links between small and medium-sized enterprises. This, they noted, would help build deeper economic integration and create more diverse channels for partnership.
As part of the visit, Al Mazrouei also led the sixth session of political consultations with Kazakh Foreign Minister Yermek Kosherbayev. The two sides exchanged views on bilateral ties as well as regional and international developments. Additional meetings were held with Kazakhstan’s ministers of transport and energy to explore new possibilities in logistics, shipping corridors and major energy projects.
The discussions in Astana underscored the steady strengthening of relations between the UAE and Kazakhstan, setting the stage for broader cooperation and fresh economic opportunities in the years ahead.
