Abu Dhabi – In a landmark move, the UAE Cabinet, chaired by His Highness Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid Al Maktoum, approved the federal budget for 2026, setting revenues and expenditures at Dh92.4 billion each. This marks the largest budget in the nation’s history since the formation of the Union.
The 2026 budget aims to reinforce balanced development across the country while strengthening federal governance. A key feature is the establishment of a dedicated programme to support the Federal Financial Centre, ensuring long-term sustainability of federal institutions through annual allocations.
Rising Global Investments
The Cabinet also highlighted the UAE’s growing international economic footprint. In 2024, the nation’s outward foreign direct investment reached Dh1.05 trillion, up 9% from the previous year, ranking the UAE first in the Arab world and among the top 20 global economies in this area.
The government emphasized that the increase in investments reflects a steady expansion of trade and economic influence, with exports more than doubling from Dh470 billion in 2019 to Dh950 billion in 2024.
International Cooperation Strengthened
During the session, the Cabinet approved 35 international agreements and memoranda of understanding in economic and cooperative fields. These steps aim to further enhance the UAE’s global partnerships and trade outreach, supporting the country’s vision for sustainable economic growth.
The 2026 budget represents a continuation of the UAE’s strategy to maintain fiscal balance while promoting innovation, investments, and long-term prosperity for residents and the wider economy.
