What Happened?
Recently, the Justice Minister of Israel, Mr. Yariv Levin, made a statement that has upset many countries around the world. He said that Israel should build more settlements in the occupied West Bank.
These words have caused a lot of concern, especially from the United Arab Emirates (UAE).
The UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs gave a strong reply. They said these kinds of comments go against international law and are dangerous. They also said these actions make peace harder to reach between Israel and Palestine.
What Is the West Bank?
To understand the issue better, we must first understand what the West Bank is.
The West Bank is a piece of land in the Middle East.
Palestinians believe it should be part of their future independent country.
But Israel has control over much of it since 1967.
Over the years, Israel has built many settlements (neighborhoods or towns for Israeli citizens) in this area.
Most countries and the United Nations (UN) believe that these settlements are illegal because they are built on occupied land.
Why the UAE Is Concerned
The UAE believes that building more settlements:
Takes land away from the Palestinians
Increases anger and violence in the region
Breaks international rules
Destroys the hope for future peace talks
In its official statement, the UAE’s Ministry of Foreign Affairs said:
“We fully reject any plans, statements, or actions that try to change the legal status of the land or make the region more unstable.”
This means the UAE does not accept any action that makes the land less likely to become part of a Palestinian state.
What Does “Legal Status” Mean?
When we talk about the legal status of land, we mean who owns it under international law. If Israel keeps building settlements on Palestinian land, it may change the facts on the ground — making it harder to return that land to Palestinians in the future.
This is why the UAE and many other countries are worried. They see it as an attempt to take over land permanently, which is against the idea of a fair two-state solution.
A Call for Peace
The UAE believes in peace between Israel and Palestine. But peace cannot happen if one side is taking more land, building houses, and ignoring the rights of others.
The UAE wants:
A Palestinian state with East Jerusalem as its capital
An end to violence and war
Both Israelis and Palestinians to live side by side peacefully
The world to follow international laws
The UAE said the world must work together to support peace efforts, not support plans that lead to more fighting.
What Is the Two-State Solution?
The two-state solution is an idea supported by most countries and the UN. It means:
Israel and Palestine would both be independent countries
They would live next to each other in peace
Jerusalem would be shared or divided fairly
People on both sides would have rights, safety, and freedom
But building more Israeli settlements in the West Bank damages this idea and makes it more difficult to achieve.
UAE Calls for Ceasefire and Action
In addition to rejecting the Israeli minister’s comments, the UAE also made another important request:
The UAE asked for an immediate ceasefire — meaning all fighting must stop right away. This includes:
Stopping attacks on civilians
Protecting families, especially women and children
Helping injured people and rebuilding destroyed homes
Creating a calm space where peace talks can begin again
“Stopping the violence now is a key step to avoid more loss of life and damage,” the Ministry said.
Protecting Palestinian Rights
The UAE has always supported the rights of the Palestinian people. These rights include:
The right to have their own country
The right to live without fear
The right to own their land
The right to be treated fairly under international law
The UAE says that ignoring these rights will only lead to more suffering and anger.
In its message, the UAE promised to keep supporting peace efforts and to stand by Palestine in all international forums.
The Role of the International Community
The UAE has also called on the world to act:
The United Nations, Europe, the USA, and Arab countries must speak out
They must oppose illegal settlements
They must support peace talks
They must help create a future of justice, safety, and hope
This is not just a problem for Israel and Palestine. It is a global issue that needs global help.
Final Words: Choosing Peace Over Conflict
The UAE’s statement shows that it is deeply committed to peace, fairness, and human rights. At a time when many lives are in danger, the UAE is asking:
Stop building on occupied land
Stop the violence
Return to peace talks
Give Palestinians a future of freedom and dignity
By rejecting the Israeli minister’s call for more settlements, the UAE is taking a strong moral stand. It is choosing the path of peace, law, and respect.
“We need to support efforts that aim to stop violence and bring real, lasting peace,” the Ministry said.
A Message of Hope
This news shows that even in times of conflict, some countries still stand for justice. The UAE believes that with honesty, dialogue, and respect, a better future is possible.
Let us all hope that world leaders will listen and take action — so that the children of both Palestine and Israel can grow up in a world of peace, not war.
