This reshuffle reflects the UAE leadership’s vision of strengthening the nation’s federal system and improving its services for the people. It also shows the country’s dedication to nurturing new leaders while appreciating the hard work of those who have served the nation for many years.

Sheikh Mohammed’s Words of Appreciation

While making this announcement, Sheikh Mohammed bin Rashid expressed his deep gratitude to AbdulRahman Al Owais. He praised his years of service as Minister of Health, noting how the UAE’s healthcare system had achieved remarkable progress under his leadership.

In his message, Sheikh Mohammed said: “Under the directives and blessing of the President of the UAE, we announce today the appointment of Ahmed Al Sayegh as Minister of Health in the United Arab Emirates. We extend our sincere appreciation to AbdulRahman Al Owais for his dedicated service to the Ministry of Health over the past years, during which significant developments have been achieved to advance the federal healthcare system. AbdulRahman Al Owais will continue to serve in the UAE Government as Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs. We wish both of them success in fulfilling their national duties, and we extend our best wishes to all national teams across the United Arab Emirates.”

These words clearly show how the UAE leadership values loyalty, dedication, and continuous service for the country.

Who is Ahmed Al Sayegh?

Ahmed bin Ali Al Sayegh is a well-respected Emirati leader with wide experience in government, business, and international relations. Before becoming Minister of Health, he served as Minister of State at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs since September 2018.

Work at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs

During his time at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Al Sayegh managed the UAE’s economic and commercial affairs portfolio. His main focus was supporting the country’s strategy of economic diversification—moving beyond oil to build strong industries in trade, technology, and investment.

He also played a key role in developing relations with Asian countries and members of the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS). His efforts helped create stronger partnerships and opened more investment opportunities for the UAE on the global stage.

His Roles Beyond the Ministry

In addition to his ministerial role, Ahmed Al Sayegh has been part of many important organizations and companies. His leadership positions show his wide experience and ability to handle responsibilities in different sectors.

  • Board of Directors and Executive Committee at ADNOC – One of the UAE’s most important companies, the Abu Dhabi National Oil Company, trusted him with senior roles.

  • Abu Dhabi Fund for Development (ADFD) – As a board member, he contributed to projects that support development both within the UAE and in friendly nations.

  • Emirates Nature–WWF – As Vice Chairman, he worked for environmental protection and sustainable development.

  • UAE-UK Business Council – As Co-Chair, he strengthened ties between the UAE and the United Kingdom, promoting trade and joint ventures.

Previous Leadership Roles

Before taking these major responsibilities, Al Sayegh held many key leadership positions:

  • Chairman of Abu Dhabi Global Market (ADGM) – He helped build Abu Dhabi into a leading financial hub.

  • Chairman of Aldar Properties – Under his guidance, the company became one of the region’s leading real estate developers.

  • Chairman of Masdar (Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company) – He promoted clean energy projects and sustainable solutions.

  • Board Member of Etihad Airways Group – He contributed to the success of the national airline.

  • Board Member of Mubadala Investment Company – He was part of important decisions in the UAE’s investment sector.

  • Vice Chairman of First Gulf Bank – He played a role in the financial sector’s growth.

  • Senior positions at ADNOC and Abu Dhabi Investment Company – These early roles gave him valuable experience in energy and finance.

This long list of achievements highlights his ability to lead, innovate, and guide the UAE in different fields.

Educational Background

Ahmed Al Sayegh holds a Bachelor’s degree in Economics from Lewis & Clark College in the United States. His educational background in economics has supported his work in both government and business, helping him to understand and build strategies that balance growth with stability.

A New Role with Great Responsibility

As the new Minister of Health and Prevention, Ahmed Al Sayegh steps into a role of great national importance. The Ministry of Health is central to the well-being of the people of the UAE. It manages hospitals, clinics, healthcare programs, disease prevention, and overall medical policies.

With his strong background in leadership and management, Al Sayegh is expected to continue the progress achieved by AbdulRahman Al Owais. The UAE has already become a model in healthcare services in the region, with advanced hospitals, international collaborations, and excellent medical facilities. Now, Al Sayegh will be responsible for further strengthening this system to meet future challenges.

The Contribution of AbdulRahman Al Owais

It is important to remember the contribution of AbdulRahman bin Mohamed Al Owais. For many years, he has been at the heart of the UAE’s healthcare journey. Under his leadership, the Ministry of Health introduced modern medical services, expanded hospitals, and ensured that Emiratis and residents received the best possible care.

Even though he has stepped down as Health Minister, his service continues. As the new Minister of State for Federal National Council Affairs, he will help maintain a strong connection between the government and the Federal National Council, which plays an important role in shaping national policies.

A Step Towards the Future

This cabinet reshuffle is more than just a change of names. It reflects the UAE’s forward-looking vision, where experienced leaders like AbdulRahman Al Owais are honored for their past service and continue to play an active role, while new leaders like Ahmed Al Sayegh are given the opportunity to lead the country into the future.

It also highlights the unity of the UAE leadership, where the President and the Prime Minister work hand in hand to strengthen the nation.

The appointment of Ahmed Al Sayegh as the new Minister of Health and Prevention marks a new chapter in the UAE’s healthcare journey. With his vast experience in government, business, and international affairs, he is well-prepared to take on this important responsibility. At the same time, AbdulRahman Al Owais will continue to contribute in his new role, ensuring that the nation benefits from his wisdom and experience.

This reshuffle shows the UAE’s commitment to progress, development, and the well-being of its people. It is a reminder that leadership in the UAE is built on trust, dedication, and the shared goal of building a brighter future for all.
