The United Arab Emirates (UAE) has emerged as a sanctuary for the Sudanese community amidst the ongoing turmoil engulfing their homeland due to war. Over 4,000 individuals gathered at a festival in Dubai to celebrate Sudan's rich heritage and culture, offering a poignant reminder of home for many attendees. Against the backdrop of Sudan's prolonged conflict between its army and the Rapid Support Forces (RSF), the event served as a symbol of resilience and solidarity within the Sudanese diaspora.

For Sarah Al Ameen, a Sudanese resident in the UAE since 1978, the festival represented more than just a cultural celebration—it was a testament to the unwavering support and refuge provided by the UAE during times of crisis. Reflecting on the event, Al Ameen expressed gratitude for the UAE's commitment to ensuring the safety and stability of Sudanese nationals, citing the country's provision of housing and humanitarian aid as tangible examples of its benevolence.

The festival, aptly named "Sudan in the Heart of the UAE," evoked a sense of nostalgia and belonging among attendees, who reveled in traditional songs, attire, and cuisine reminiscent of their homeland. Ghada Maamoun, another Sudanese resident in the UAE, echoed Al Ameen's sentiments, emphasizing the event's significance in fostering unity and camaraderie within the community.

Beyond cultural festivities, the UAE's support for Sudan extends to substantial humanitarian aid, with pledges totaling $100 million to alleviate the suffering of those affected by the conflict. This assistance includes crucial provisions such as food, medical supplies, and the establishment of hospitals to aid Sudanese refugees in neighboring countries like Chad. Such initiatives underscore the UAE's commitment to promoting peace, security, and humanitarianism on both regional and global scales.

In light of the ongoing strife in Sudan, characterized by widespread displacement and humanitarian crises, the festival served as a beacon of hope and solidarity, reaffirming the strong bonds between Sudan and the UAE. As Sheikh Nahyan bin Mubarak, Minister of Tolerance and Coexistence, emphasized, the relationship between the two nations is founded on shared values of patriotism, mutual respect, and the pursuit of peace and prosperity for all.
