A severe rainstorm battered Hafr Al Batin, located in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province, triggering the collapse of high-voltage electricity towers on Sunday and resulting in significant disruptions to power supply.
The storm, characterized by strong downward wind currents, stirred up dense dust waves, leading to reduced visibility across the region. Subsequently, heavy rainfall compounded the already adverse weather conditions.
Social media platforms were inundated with videos capturing the dramatic moment when several high-voltage lines succumbed to the ferocity of the storm, collapsing to the ground.

Confirming the severity of the weather event, the Saudi Electricity Company, via its official account, acknowledged the impact of the storm on Hafr Al Batin and its surrounding areas on Sunday evening.
In response to the disruptions, the company swiftly mobilized maintenance teams to the affected regions, despite the challenging weather conditions, with the aim of restoring electricity supply promptly.
Meteorological forecasts indicate the likelihood of continued instability in Hafr Al Batin, with cumulus thunderclouds forecasted to persist in the area over the coming hours.
The incident underscores the resilience and agility of maintenance crews in responding to adverse weather events, ensuring the swift restoration of essential services in affected areas.
