Sheikh Salem bin Abdulrahman Al Qasimi, Chairman of the Sharjah Ruler's Office, visited the Sharjah Government Pavilion at GITEX 2024, where he praised the ongoing efforts to advance technology and achieve digital leadership. His visit underscored the alignment of these initiatives with Sharjah's vision for a sustainable digital future, which seeks to modernize services and boost efficiency throughout the emirate.
On the third day of GITEX 2024, Sharjah demonstrated its commitment to digital transformation through the launch of several key initiatives. Sharjah Municipality introduced a pioneering smart inspection device for managing its central laboratories, a first in the UAE. This advanced tool is designed specifically to examine plastic products used in construction, ensuring quality control and enhancing safety standards.

In addition, the Sharjah Digital Authority launched the Sharjah Real Estate Services Platform, known as "Aqari." This unified digital platform simplifies real estate transactions and services across the emirate, with the goal of improving user experience and supporting Sharjah’s sustainable development efforts. Aqari allows seamless integration of various real estate services, making it easier for users to access vital information and complete transactions efficiently.
The Sharjah Planning and Survey Department also unveiled a significant project, "Area Planning with Artificial Intelligence," aimed at revolutionizing city planning methodologies. The project employs cutting-edge AI technologies and advanced analytical tools to process geographic data, facilitating the planning of new urban areas in line with modern standards. This initiative supports the emirate’s vision of creating smart, sustainable urban environments by promoting innovation in urban development, enhancing the quality of life, and improving economic balance.
Further contributing to Sharjah’s future-oriented vision, Sharjah University City presented its ambitious "Sharjah University City – City of the Future" project. This model for smart cities focuses on enhancing the quality of life while ensuring environmental sustainability. The project includes three key systems designed to optimize resource use and efficiency.
First is a smart irrigation system that automates traditional watering processes, providing precise control over irrigation valves and water flow. This system monitors for potential malfunctions, ensuring water resources are managed effectively and sustainably.
The second system is an automated lighting solution, which electronically manages streetlights, adjusting brightness during off-peak hours to reduce energy consumption while maintaining public safety. This contributes to the city’s broader goals of energy efficiency and environmental responsibility.
The final component is a vehicle counting system, aimed at improving traffic management within University City. By tracking vehicle numbers and movements during peak hours, the system helps reduce congestion and enhance the flow of traffic, contributing to smoother transportation across the campus.
These initiatives collectively demonstrate Sharjah's commitment to leveraging digital technologies to improve government services, urban planning, and resource management, all in line with the emirate’s strategic vision for sustainable and innovative growth.
