In the city of Poltava, a Russian missile hit a residential building, killing three people and hurting 10 others, including a child. The pictures shared on Telegram showed the building with parts of the upper floors destroyed, and thick smoke rising into the air. Firefighters and rescue workers quickly arrived to help and look for survivors.
In Kharkiv, a city in the northeast, a drone attack killed one person and hurt four others. The mayor said that the people hurt in the attack were not seriously injured.
In the southeastern city of Zaporizhzhia, Russia also caused damage to buildings. However, no one was reported dead or badly hurt in that city.
Ukraine's air defense systems worked hard to stop the attacks in Kyiv, the capital. Thankfully, no major damage or deaths were reported in Kyiv during the attack.
These air attacks are part of a larger increase in attacks from Russia. They have been sending many drones and missiles almost every day in the past weeks. Saturday’s attack came after a missile strike on Odesa, a city by the Black Sea, on Friday night. This attack damaged the old part of the city.
The war between Russia and Ukraine is getting closer to its third year, and Russia has been increasing its missile and drone attacks. Ukraine continues to try to defend itself from these attacks as the fighting continues to affect many cities and people.
