A Russian drone hit an apartment building in Pavlohrad, a city in southeastern Ukraine. This attack killed three people and injured 10 others, according to officials. Among the dead were a child and a 76-year-old woman. The attack happened late at night in the Dnipropetrovsk region of Ukraine, which has been often targeted by Russian drones. The head of the region, Serhii Lysak, shared this information on the app Telegram.

Overnight, Russia sent 103 Shahed and decoy drones to five different regions in Ukraine, according to Ukraine's air force. The areas of Sumy and Kharkiv in northeastern Ukraine reported damage to buildings, but there were no reports of people being hurt.
The strike on Pavlohrad came a day after a deadly attack on Kyiv, the capital of Ukraine. At least 12 people were killed, and 87 others were injured in that attack. It was the deadliest attack on Kyiv since July. This violence has led to anger, especially from U.S. President Donald Trump, who has been trying to help end the war.
Trump expressed his frustration with Russia’s continued attacks on Kyiv. He wrote on his social media platform, Truth Social: "I am not happy with the Russian strikes on KYIV. Not necessary, and very bad timing. Vladimir, STOP! 5000 soldiers a week are dying. Let's get the Peace Deal DONE!"
Trump’s frustration is growing because his attempts to help bring peace between Ukraine and Russia have not worked so far. U.S. officials have warned that if the war doesn’t end soon, the U.S. may stop trying to help.
Trump's envoy, Steve Witkoff, was expected to meet with Russian President Vladimir Putin in Moscow on Friday. This will be their second meeting this month and the fourth time they have met since February.
Trump and Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelenskyy were both planning to go to Rome for the funeral of Pope Francis, which will take place in St. Peter’s Square at the Vatican on Saturday. It is not clear if they will meet while in Rome.
After the drone attack on Kyiv, Russian forces used the opportunity to launch nearly 150 attacks on Ukrainian positions along the 1,000-kilometer front line. President Zelenskyy said that while Ukraine's military was focused on defending against missile and drone attacks, the Russians took this chance to step up their ground attacks.
European leaders have accused Russian President Putin of not making enough progress in the peace talks and of trying to take more land from Ukraine while his army is still strong. Trump has also accused Zelenskyy of keeping the war going by not agreeing to give up Crimea, which Russia took over in 2014. Zelenskyy has said many times that Ukraine will never accept Russia's control over Crimea.
Zelenskyy also shared that Ukraine agreed to a U.S. ceasefire plan 44 days ago as a first step to peace talks. However, Russian attacks have continued since then, making it hard to reach peace.
In recent attacks, Russia hit Sumy, killing more than 30 people who had gathered to celebrate Palm Sunday. Russia also used drones to attack Odesa and dropped powerful bombs on Zaporizhzhia.
