Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has started a large road improvement project across 40 important spots in the city. These upgrades will take place between June and September 2025. The work will be done on 22 main roads, 9 school areas, and more than 5 growing neighborhoods. Some of the internal roads in areas like Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, and Nad Al Sheba will also see upgrades.
RTA has chosen the summer holidays for this work to reduce traffic problems during the project. Safety is a top priority, and all improvements will follow the highest safety standards.
The main goal of these changes is to make driving smoother, reduce travel time, and improve safety across Dubai. The upgrades are also meant to help connect different parts of the city better—especially areas where people live, go to school, or where new buildings and communities are being developed.

Some of the major areas that will see traffic improvements include Jumeirah Village Circle towards Hessa Street, Ras Al Khor Road, Al Thanya Street, and King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud Street. More work is also planned for Al Meydan Street, Al Sa’ada Street, Al Asayel Street, and the junction of Al Wasl Street and Al Manara Street.
As part of its focus on school safety, RTA is also working on nine school zones. Some of these changes include new road setups near the Al Warqa 1 school complex, adding a new bus entrance at GEMS School in Al Warqa 3, making entry and exit easier at The English College in Al Safa 1 near Sheikh Zayed Road, and installing a new pedestrian crossing with signals on Al Seedaf Street in Al Barsha 1. These updates are meant to ease traffic jams during school drop-off and pick-up times.
RTA is also focusing on new and growing areas of Dubai. For example, they are building a direct road to the Al Muhaisnah labour camps from Sheikh Mohammed bin Zayed Road. Other projects include better access to Brookfield on Al Mustaqbal Street, smoother connections between Al Khail Road and Al Asayel Street through Al Marabea' Street, and road upgrades at the Nad Al Hamar junction near Lootah Mosque. A new parking area will also be added for Zayed Educational Complex in Oud Al Muteena 1.
Lastly, RTA is improving smaller roads inside areas like Tolerance District, Al Khawaneej 2, Jebel Ali Industrial 1, Nad Al Sheba, and Al Warqa. Walkways for pedestrians will also be built in the Al Quoz Creative Zone to make it safer for people on foot.
These changes are part of RTA’s bigger plan to support Dubai’s fast growth and make it easier for everyone to get around the city.
