Dubai’s Roads and Transport Authority (RTA) has finished the expansion work at the intersection of Omar bin Al Khattab Street and Al Maktoum Street. This expansion covers an area of 500 meters. As part of the work, a new lane has been added for vehicles going from the Clock Tower Roundabout towards Al Khaleej Street. Another new lane has been added for vehicles going from Al Khaleej Street to the Clock Tower through Omar bin Al Khattab Street. Additionally, the lane going from Al Khaleej Street to Omar bin Al Khattab Street, which then leads to Naif Street, has had its space increased to allow more cars to fit in and move easily. This change will help improve the flow of traffic at this busy intersection.
These changes are part of RTA’s plan to make traffic more efficient and safer for everyone in Dubai. The main goal is to make traffic move more smoothly and quickly. The improvements will also help people move through the area without facing too much traffic.

The changes will also make the intersection better for both drivers and people visiting the area. The improvements will increase the capacity of the intersection by more than 20% and will also reduce waiting times during the busy evening hours. The time spent waiting at the intersection will go down from 160 seconds to just 75 seconds, making it faster and easier for drivers to pass through.
During the work, RTA made sure that the intersection continued to be open for traffic. They followed the best practices and high standards to ensure that everything was done safely and efficiently.
The RTA paid a lot of attention to safety during the entire project. They made sure that both drivers and pedestrians were safe while the work was being done. The goal was to reduce traffic jams, keep the traffic moving, and avoid long lines of cars waiting.
This expansion is part of RTA’s plan to fix roads with heavy traffic and make traffic flow better in busy areas. These improvements are important for the future of Dubai as the city continues to grow. They will help make life better for both people living in Dubai and people who visit the city.
