The 46th annual Golden Raspberry Awards (Razzies), which highlight the worst films and performances of the year, were announced on Saturday. The 2025 American sci-fi film War of the Worlds, inspired by The War of the Worlds, dominated the awards by winning five major categories.
The film took home awards for Worst Picture, Worst Screenplay, Worst Remake, Worst Actor, and Worst Director. According to Razzie organisers, the film “utterly destroyed H.G. Wells’ classic novel.”
Director Rich Lee was criticised for his direction, while actor Ice Cube received the Worst Actor award for his performance in the film. The organisers said the movie relied on weak dialogue and gimmicky storytelling.
Another film heavily targeted at this year’s Razzies was Snow White, a live-action remake of the 1937 animated classic by The Walt Disney Company. The film won Worst Supporting Actor — awarded collectively to its seven CGI dwarves — and Worst Screen Combo.
In the acting categories, Rebel Wilson won Worst Actress for her role in the action-comedy Bride Hard. Meanwhile, Scarlet Rose Stallone received Worst Supporting Actress for her performance in the Western action film Gunslingers.
The event also presented the Razzie Redeemer Award, which honours past nominees who later deliver outstanding performances. This year’s award went to Kate Hudson for her critically praised role in Song Sung Blue, where she stars alongside Hugh Jackman.
Hudson’s performance has earned strong reviews and nominations from major award bodies, including the Golden Globe Awards, BAFTA Awards, and the Academy Awards.
The Razzie Awards are voted on by more than 1,100 members across the United States and around two dozen other countries, according to the organisation’s official website. The annual event is known as a parody of Hollywood’s biggest honours, highlighting the year’s most critically criticised films and performances.
