The match unfolded in freezing conditions, with Aisam initially gaining an advantage by winning the first set 6-7(3) after a spirited battle. Despite a fired-up Aisam and enthusiastic home crowd, Ramkumar bounced back, clinching the second set in a tie-breaker (7-6(4)).

Crucially, in the eighth game of the second set, Ramkumar saved two break points, proving pivotal in the overall outcome. As the match progressed, Aisam struggled with double faults, while Ramkumar's serves and shot accuracy improved. The Indian player managed to break Aisam early in the third set, taking advantage of the Pakistani's physical struggles, particularly with his left hamstring.

Ramkumar's strategic play, including well-executed forehands and passing shots, contributed to his dominance in the third set. Aisam took a medical timeout to address his groin and hamstring issues, but Ramkumar continued his momentum. The Indian player eventually secured a convincing 6-0 victory in the third set, sealing the overall win and providing India with a 1-0 lead in the Davis Cup tie.

Ramkumar's performance highlighted his ability to overcome challenges, including saving crucial break points and adapting to the adverse weather conditions.
