Russian President Vladimir Putin, in an extensive interview with Tucker Carlson, emphasized that while Russia is committed to defending its interests, it has no intentions of expanding the conflict in Ukraine to include countries like Poland and Latvia. The interview, lasting over two hours, marked Putin's first engagement with an American journalist since the commencement of Russia's invasion of Ukraine nearly two years ago.

When questioned about the possibility of deploying Russian troops to Poland, a NATO member, Putin responded that such action would only be considered if Poland initiated an attack against Russia. He clarified that Russia lacks any interest in countries like Poland and Latvia and would only respond in self-defense.

The interview, conducted in Moscow on Tuesday, was broadcast on tuckercarlson.com, with Putin speaking in Russian, and his remarks being translated into English. Putin began the conversation with extensive commentary on Russia's relationships with Ukraine, Poland, and other nations.

The Kremlin stated that Putin agreed to the interview with Carlson due to the perceived difference in Carlson's approach compared to what they deemed as "one-sided" reporting on the Ukraine conflict by many Western news outlets.

Tucker Carlson, known for his close ties to former U.S. President Donald Trump, is expected to be a prominent figure in the November U.S. presidential election. Trump, advocating for de-escalation in Ukraine, has criticized the significant financial aid provided by the Biden administration to the Ukrainian government. Carlson has echoed concerns about biased Western media coverage favoring Kyiv in the conflict.

The interview reflects the evolving dynamics of international relations and offers insights into Putin's perspective on Russia's involvement in the Ukraine conflict. It also highlights the influence of alternative media platforms and individual journalists in shaping global narratives around geopolitical events.
